The Siberian Husky was bred by the nomadic tribe of the Chucis, a tribe related to the Eskimo from the Kolyma basin and the foot of the Cherski Mountains. It is an old breed, which for many years had a dual role as a sled dog and companion dog. The breed was bred from local breeds to produce a breed with strong stamina and strength. The exact origin is unclear. It has remained a dog with excellent working qualities and is one of the sweetest varieties within sled dogs as we know them today.

Activity: The Siberian Husky is certainly not a flat dog. The breed is known for its tremendous stamina and therefore requires a lot of exercise. Training with the sled is ideal. There are various possibilities to practice sled dog sport in the Netherlands as well.

Character: The Siberian Husky is a compact and strong working dog. They are protected from temperatures as low as 75 degrees below zero, so are best suited for cooler and cold climates. They exhibit a degree of dignity and reserve. The Siberian Husky is an amiable companion and loves to work.

Temperament: The Siberian Husky has an affectionate, gentle and friendly disposition, are alert and eager to please. They are highly intelligent and have an independent mind which will sometimes be challenging for the boss. This versatile breed gets along well with children and other medium-sized dogs. However, their strong predatory instinct makes them dangerous to cats and other small pets.

The Siberian Husky thrives in a family environment and does not become overly attached to a specific person. They will not show fear or reservations with strangers. They prefer to live in packs.

Karakter

De Siberische Husky heeft een aanhankelijk, zachtaardig en vriendelijk karakter, zijn alert en willen graag behagen. Ze zijn zeer intelligent en hebben een onafhankelijke geest, wat soms een uitdaging zal zijn voor de baas. Deze veelzijdige ras kan goed opschieten met kinderen en andere middelgrote honden.
